At 3 Bridges Land & Cattle we want to try and provide the most problem free purchase possible. We try to achieve this goal by purchasing quality genetics and superior herd bulls with balanced EPD profiles. Maternal traits including calving ease, calf vigor, udder quality and mothering ability are of the utmost importance. We continually strive to breed and develop cattle with longevity in mind.
We believe bull development starts the day they are born. All calves are born in grass pastures in a virtually stress free environment. The cows spend the entire summer and fall grazing native pastures ranging from 7600’ to 9700’ elevation. The calves are raised on the cow with no creep feed or additional supplementation. They are weaned in mid to late October. After weaning they are brought home where the first evaluation and culling process begins.
The bulls are turned out in a 100-acre pasture at 7600’ elevation. The rugged environment and varying weather conditions help us effectively assess genetic differences, soundness, performance and aids in culling.
All of the bulls are fed together as one intact contemporary group, not sorted by size. This enables us to collect accurate data on their individual performance. They are hand fed native grass hay and a limited ration of oats, corn, and a bull developer pellet with a targeted gain of 2.5 to 3 pounds a day. They must walk nearly a mile to both feed and water which enables them to develop natural athletic ability, frames the them out, hardens their hooves and develops joints and muscles at an acceptable pace. Every detail of this development program plays and strategic role in our ability to deliver a bull that will work hard for you.
